This was a rare visitor to a remote location of which I frequented over decades, the previous days, in narrow roads and blocking emergency exits and private land and local people's property, of which I knew 2. Families, they encroached in their obsession, and really selfish and possessed, foaming lunatics, it was a fairy tern or thereabouts, I slept on the beach 2 days later, and here she is, all the arseholes long gone and none of them got a picture of this lovely off migratory aspect sweet thing, but it lit upon this post above my head, sweet
Or it may have been called a delicate tern, something in that arena, the fact it was a ground nesting protected site anyway, makes ya wonder why hundreds of twitchers would even contemplate disturbing their obsession and misguided madness, I noticed, amongst the throng of clamour, 98% were males. I'm a man, and I would rather have been home with my lover, (woman), yet these weirdo's, with thousands of pounds of camera's and tripods, stamp over humanity for a unnecessary stampede to tick a bird 🐦 off the list. Ironically chronically moronically, ignorant of there supposed collective conversation of environmental nurture and surveys and monitoring species, et al, hmmmmmmm

Love this. Totally agree.
Thank you Nancy, glad to know this poem spoke to you!
This is lovely. I've always wanted to see the sandhill cranes.
Me too! I would love to visit the Platte River to see this spectacle during migration.
Was easy to visualize!
Glad that you could see this vivid image of the cranes while reading it ☺️
