The Peace of Wild Things: July Poetry Circle
Join us for our first nature-inspired poetry circle!
Dear Friends,
I’m excited to share that I will be hosting our first community poetry circle on Saturday, July 20 from 10:00am-11:30pm PST. This is the beginning of a monthly poetry circle where we will gather to explore, write, and share nature-inspired poetry.
For each circle, I will begin by offering a nature poetry reading followed by a short discussion that will guide us into the theme we’ll explore and write about. After our discussion, we’ll write and then close the circle by sharing our work.
The exchange for the circle is $25.00 CAD. Register your spot by scanning the QR code and making a payment via PayPal. Once you’ve registered, I will sent you a link for the workshop.
There are 8 spots available. As an bonus, anyone who restacks this post will be entered to win a free spot to our June poetry circle!
July’s Theme: The Peace of Wild Things
Our theme this month is inspired by Wendell Berry’s poem The Peace of Wild Things. We’ll talk about the places outdoors that offer us peace when are spirits have grown weary and what it means to be held in the presence of wild things.
When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. - Wendell Berry
Poetry Outdoors is a free-publication that thrives off the generosity of its readers. Join us as we walk the path of restoring and regenerating our relationship to the natural world by using poetry as a bridge to help us find our way.
Beautiful reading of this piece!
Beautiful, wishing you the best with this new offering! 💚🌺
